SG after GE2011

SG has changed. Even if the PAP has an 81:6 advantage, the popular vote has declined to 60% from 66% from the previous GE. That is not insignificant, and WP should take the next 5 years to consolidate the gains from this election, and move SG towards a more vibrant political environment.

The same can be said for the other Opposition parties. Their physical presence should be accompanied by their media presence, and continue to lay the ground work for the next GE. There should also be an informal shadow cabinet across the other Opposition parties, and begin to pose a more robust challenge to PAP.

There continues to be many uncertainties; such as if there could be even more reforms in the electoral system. How will the GRC system be revised? Will there be changes in the media landscape in terms of how independent they should be, and if the pro-PAP bias would be minimized?

But that said, SG is a different place already.
